I('ll) Miss
I('ll) Miss...
Sometimes while sitting alone on my own
I sometimes wish I was at home
But when I go home I will shed quite a tear
And I know that I'll wish that I was still here My loves
I miss my girlfriend first of all
I think of her the most
But when I go, it will be hard
To be inspired to post I miss my car, the Oldsmobile
And driving on the right
But when I go, I'll miss the tube
Cause PAT gives me such fright I miss the streets of Oakland
The map was in my head
But soon I'll crave the London Streets
And walking with my A to Z I need a good computer
And not having to pay
But when I'm gone, I'll miss the stroll
To the Internet café I wish I had my keyboard
To play a little tune
But soon I'll miss the buskers
Who play beneath the moon I miss Giant Eagle
And K-mart late at night
But when I think "Sainsbury"
Have nostalgia, I just might Food and Scenery
I miss Permanti Brothers' food
In every restaurant, there's a loo
But at home, it's hard to get
For 60 cents a fresh baguette
I miss skyscrapers everywhere
But I guess I shouldn't care
Cause here there are so many shops
At least 10 rolls of photo opps. Entertainment and Money
The Steelers I miss, it makes me feel torn
I missed all new movies, and first run T.V.
But when I go home, I'll miss the soft porn
And telly commercial free (on the B.B.C.) Quarters and dollars with George on the front
And one equals one and not one-sixty nine
But colourful money is something I'll want
To have in my pocket and use all the time I wish I could wear my shorts in the fall
And stroll through South Oakland way late in the dark
But if I never came here at all
I could not enjoy a stroll through Hyde Park I miss cheap, good pizza from Antoons at Pitt
And relevant classes for an I.S. degree
I suppose I can sacrifice just for a bit
For the good chunk of Europe that I'll get to see I miss all my friends that I left back at Pitt
And I long for a living room inside my flat
But I'll never forget new friends not from Pitt
And Broadmead 16 is certainly phat Musing
I crave hot and cold coming out of one tap
But I'll feel so nostalgic when I hear "Mind the Gap"
At home every corner I feel safe to cross
But here at the zebra, the cars know who's boss I want beer by the pitcher, and beer by the case
Five dollars a pint is a slap in the face
But when I return I know that I'll fear
Substandard Guinness and shots more than beer At home the distributors keep kegs in stock
And the bar doesn't close at 11 o'clock
But here you can do something different each day
When it's time to go home, I'll wish I could stay
The vernacular
I went to the boozer and then used the loo
And then ate some chips when I wanted some food
A couple of kids were snoggin away
And I felt it was quite a P.D.A.
So I left from the pub just a little bit pissed
I climbed up my stairs as I wished for a lift
I got to my flat, and got me some kip
Then counted my dosh to go out in a bit
I talked to my flatmate who was smoking a fag
Then turned on the telly and began to lag
I watched some soft porn and we wished we could see
Some fanny on this quality T.V.
Unfortunately, it wasn't to be
So I put on my wellies and walked down the street
I walked to the off-license to get me some shit
And tripped on the sidewalk, I felt a great tit
So I got on my feet and decided instead
To queue at the phone and ring my girlfriend
I made the trunk call on the nearest pay phone
Then I decided to return myself home
I felt a bit knackered as I ate some sweets
I then brushed my teeth and went back to sleep In case you were wondering what's going on.
The boozer's the pub and the loo is a john
When I say snoggin, I mean that they kissed
And when you are drunk, one might say you are pissed
When I want some kip it is sleep that I hunt
Fag is a cigarette, fanny is...the female sexual organs
Dosh is my cash and wellies are boots
The off-license is where you might buy yourself booze
When someone says, "I felt a great tit"
That means they felt like an idiot
To queue is to wait in what we call a line
French fries are chips when you go out to dine
To ring someone up is to give them a call
If you know what sweets are, then you're on the ball
When you're knackered you're tired, so tired you might fall
And to ring up long distance is to make a trunk call
The elevator here, they call it the lift
So now I would hope that you got the gist
And now I do hope that you know what I mean
When I tell you in England there's more than can just be seen Now perhaps you can understand
I sometimes get homesick in this far-away land
But one thing I'm sure of is that when I go
It will certainly have its highs and its lows
Sometimes while sitting alone on my own
I sometimes wish I was at home
But when I go home I will shed quite a tear
And I know that I'll wish that I was still here My loves
